EB 90 simplifies CDM rules and discusses reform of additionality demonstration

At its 90th meeting, the Board discussed various proposals for demonstrating additionality and decided to simplify and streamline the CDM framework. Among other things, the Board decided that on-site inspections at validation should only be mandatory when the estimated emission reductions exceed 100,000 tCO₂e.

Furthermore, EB 90 dealt with the usability of the SD tool and decided that only those measures to improve the use of the online portal and the report drafting process should be developed, but rejected all proposals for improved use of reported information by third parties.
EB 90 also discussed proposals to extend the scope of cookstove methodologies and deal with outdated default values that determine the proportion of non-renewable biomass.
